Abstract

Many biological processes in fungi are dependent on molecular oxygen (O2). The use of O2 as final electron receptor in the respiratory chain of the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM), can lead to the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as superoxide (O2-), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and hydroxyl (OH-) radicals.
