Abstract

Introduction: Any infectious process starts with the initial contact between pathogen and host. It is known that certain pathogens interact with the host's coagulation system. We had previously demonstrated that Paracoccidioides brasiliensis conidia interact with plasma proteins including fibronectin and fibrinogen, the latter considered a component of the coagulation system. When a monoclonal antibody addressed against an adhesin located on the cell wall of P. brasiliensis, that binds ECMp, a slightly decrease in the aggregation process was observed.
